St Ann’s T.T.I. holds NSS Special Camp 2022-23
St Ann’s T.T.I. Mangaluru in collaboration with DSERT Bengaluru organised NSS camp from 7th November to 13th November here at Stella Maris Aided HPS Kotekar, Someshwar. The camp was inaugurated by Mrs Rajalaxmi K Principal DIET Mangaluru. In her inaugural address madam spoke on the importance of the camp in preparing the future generation with an attitude of service. The esteemed guests for the day were Mr Alwyn Andrade NSS officer DIET, Mangaluru, Mr Abdul Latheef Corporator Port ward Bunder, Sr Maria Smitha A.C. Superior Stella Maris Convent Kotekar, Sr Maria Carmel A.C Headmistress Stella Maris HPS, Sr Jenifer Moras Principal Carmel CBSE Kotekar. Sr Sarika A.C. Principal Carmel CBSE Mangaluru, Sr M Roopa A.C. Administrator of St Ann’s College of Education Mangaluru. Sr Sudeepa A.C. the Educational Secretary of Karnataka Province in her presidential address, invited the students to apply the rich experiences of the camp in their professional life as teachers.
Sixty teacher trainees under the guidance of Principal Sr Pramila A.C. NSS coordinator Mrs Sandhya, and other lecturers had a fruitful experience of leadership, living and serving the community and become the agents of social change. From rising at 5 AM till the lights off at 10 PM various activities were conducted for the students for their physical, social, cultural, psychological and spiritual development. Meditation, Yoga, flag hoisting, cooking, cleaning, shramadhan, lectures, cultural activities, games, teaching art and craft and action songs to the school children, awareness programmes in the village were the activities held during the camp. Students participated with full cooperation, zeal and enthusiasm. Mr U.T. Khader MLA, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Karnataka Assembly visited the camp site and appreciated students for their enthusiasm in serving others. His words sensitized the NSS volunteers regarding social service and simple living.
Students had different talks for their professional development by various resource persons. Mr Matthadi the Chief Officer Someshwar City Corporation and Mrs Lilly Nair the Health Officer of Panchayat sponsored an awareness programme regarding Waste Management and encouraged them to develop environment friendly attitude. An opportunity was provided to students to experience the havoc that could be experienced due to Cyber Crime which was demonstrated by Mr Robinson D’Souza founder of ‘Cyber Sapiens’ Mangaluru. The other topics included Bio gas, Kalika chetharike, art and literature. This National Service Scheme special camp gave students an unique experience for the lifetime.
The closing ceremony of the NSS camp was held on 13th November. Mrs Hycinth Pinto the secretary and CF of Jeevanidhi Trust in her concluding speech spoke on the need of shaping personality for the better living. Sr Maria Carmel A.C. Headmistress of Stella Maris HPS was the president for the day. Sister appreciated the students for their willinness to render service to the society and their readiness to put up with the inconveniences during the camp. Mrs Marina Dsouza vice president of PTA Stella Maris HPS, Mr V Umesh Karanth Retired lecturer of St Ann’s TTI Mangaluru were the chief guests. Rich experience was shared by student teachers Mrs Shilpa and Rakshitha. This NSS camp was a great success with the blessings of the God Almighty and generous contribution of the people of good will.
